Hi Robin I mention there that I was only looking at the tractor, I dont have it bought yet .Its in a new holland dealer garage. So I cant drain the oil or drop the sump. Thanks
Drain the oil, drop the sump and pressurize the water system. Look for water dripping, then look up to see where it is coming from. It"s usually obvious.
Have you seen it start from cold I would imagine that a liner problem would cause an excessive amount of white smoke on start up as the water burns of, where as a head gasket may not so other symptoms other that water in the oil. I would lean towards a gasket problem with water in the oil.
I was looking at a Marshall 804 it is very clean with good tyres but it has a engine problem there in water in the engine oil. Just wondering is there any way of know if its the head gasket is gone or a cracked linder ? or is there any other problem than could cause the water to be in the oil ? Is this a expensive job to repair ? Any help gratefully received, thanks
